Avantis Estate was founded by Apostolos Mountrichas in 1994.
The winery is located in the historical region of Evia’s vineyards (Mytikas or Ampelia-Vines), in Lilantio valley – Central Greece.
The 20 hectare vineyards are found in Evia in Central Greece. The varieties that are cultivated are the indigenous Malagousia, Asyrtiko, Muscat, Sauvignon blanc, Gewurztraminer, Viognier, Mandilaria, Syrah, Grenache rouge and Merlot.and the unique Mavrokoudoura – that is a red Euboean grape variety that mr. Apostolos Mountrichas has revived. The winery with its modern mechanical equipment, produces a complete range of wines white – rose – red – sweet wines.
Avantis Dryos (Malagouzia) is the first wine to have been registrated into Guinness Book of Records (edition 1998).
Recently was acquired testimonial HACCP.
Avantis Estate is a boutique family winery with many medals (more than 300) and awards from international competitions, taking into consideration the quality in all the stages of the productive process.
Avantis Estate has gained high scores from the American wine writers R. Parker, Tara Q. Thomas and Canadian wine writer Tony Aspler and the British Julia Harding MW a wine writer of www.jancisrobinson.com . Mr. Joel Butler MW, President of the Institute of Masters of Wine –North America, has visited Avantis Estate and its vineyard in Afrati-Evia and had a full wine tasting of all the wines.
Recently the Avantis red wine “Agios Chronos”, won the PLATINUM MEDAL 95/100 – being the best medal for a Greek wine – between 15.000 wines from all over the world, from the Decanter Wine Awards 2016 in Great Britain.
